QA1 — Precision Performance Suspension & Driveline Components

QA1 has been engineering precision suspension and driveline components for the performance aftermarket since 1993, building a product lineup trusted by professional drag racers, road course competitors, and serious street performance builders who demand measurable handling improvements over factory suspension. From adjustable coilovers and double-adjustable shocks to chromoly driveshafts and precision rod ends, QA1 manufactures every component in-house in Lakeville, Minnesota — maintaining direct control over the engineering, machining, and quality standards that define the brand.

Adjustable Coilovers

QA1 coilover systems replace the factory spring and shock combination with a fully adjustable unit that allows independent adjustment of ride height, spring rate, and damping — providing the tuning capability needed to optimize suspension performance for a specific application, driver preference, and track or road surface condition. Coilover kits are available for classic GM A-body, F-body, and G-body platforms, as well as modern muscle car and truck applications where factory suspension geometry is retained but performance capability is significantly upgraded.

Single-adjustable coilovers provide rebound damping adjustment for drivers who want improved control over factory suspension without the complexity of a full two-way adjustable system. Double-adjustable units add independent compression damping control for the most precise suspension tuning capability — the correct choice for dedicated track builds and serious drag race applications where suspension setup is a competitive advantage.

Single & Double-Adjustable Shocks

QA1's shock absorber lineup covers drag racing, road course, and street performance applications in single and double-adjustable configurations. Drag race shocks are engineered for the specific demands of straight-line acceleration — controlling weight transfer at launch, maintaining consistent front end rise, and providing repeatable performance pass after pass. Road course shocks balance compression and rebound damping for the combined braking, cornering, and acceleration loads of circuit driving.

QA1's Pro Coil and Stocker Star shock series cover the most popular bracket racing and stock class applications, with application-specific valving developed for the weight and suspension geometry of each supported platform. Adjustability allows fine-tuning for track conditions and driver preference without replacing the shock.

Tubular Control Arms

QA1 tubular control arms replace factory stamped steel units with precision-welded chromoly or mild steel tubular arms that reduce unsprung weight, improve suspension geometry, and provide correct mounting points for QA1 coilovers and performance ball joints. Upper and lower control arm kits are available for classic GM A-body and F-body platforms, with geometry corrections that improve camber curve, caster, and roll center compared to the factory design — directly improving handling response and tire contact patch management through corners.

Chromoly Driveshafts

QA1 chromoly steel driveshafts are engineered for high-horsepower applications where factory driveshafts are a failure risk or a performance limitation. Chromoly construction provides higher tensile strength than mild steel at equivalent or lower weight, allowing QA1 to build driveshafts that handle the torque loads of built engines and nitrous or forced induction applications without the weight penalty of an oversized mild steel shaft. Custom-length driveshafts are available for swap applications and chassis builds where factory shaft dimensions don't apply.

Rod Ends & Spherical Bearings

QA1 produces a comprehensive range of rod ends and spherical bearings for suspension, steering, and chassis applications. Rod ends are available in steel and chromoly with right and left-hand thread configurations, in a range of bore sizes and shank diameters to match the specific requirements of each application. QA1's rod ends are manufactured to precise dimensional tolerances with load ratings appropriate for suspension and steering use — not adapted from industrial catalog components that may not meet the dynamic load requirements of performance vehicle applications.

Common Applications

QA1 suspension products cover classic GM A-body platforms — Chevelle, El Camino, Malibu, and Monte Carlo — as well as F-body Camaro and Firebird, G-body Malibu and Cutlass, and a range of modern muscle car and truck platforms. Drag race shock applications cover virtually every domestic platform used in bracket and class racing. Driveshaft and rod end products are universal with custom sizing available for non-standard applications.
