Transmission & Drivetrain

Engine power means nothing until it reaches the wheels. The transmission and drivetrain are the mechanical link between what the engine makes and what actually moves the vehicle — and on a performance build, every component in that chain needs to be up to the task. This collection covers automatic and manual transmissions, shifters, clutch kits, driveshafts, differentials, axles, flexplates, flywheels, and all related hardware for street performance and race applications.

Automatic transmissions on performance builds need to handle elevated torque loads, survive repeated hard launches, and shift with the speed and firmness that a modified engine demands. Performance-built automatics — TH350, TH400, 700R4, 4L60E, 4L80E, and other popular GM, Ford, and Mopar units — are available with upgraded clutch packs, hardened internals, and shift kits that transform the factory unit into a race-capable transmission. Torque converters are matched to engine stall speed and power band for optimal launch RPM and lockup characteristics. Transmission coolers protect automatic transmissions from the heat that destroys clutch packs and seals under repeated hard use.

Manual transmissions put the driver in direct control of gear selection — and on a performance build, that connection between driver and drivetrain is part of the experience. Close-ratio and wide-ratio gear sets are available for different performance applications. Clutch kits — pressure plates, discs, and release bearings — are matched to the engine's torque output and intended use. Street performance clutches balance engagement feel with holding capacity. Race clutches prioritize holding capacity and durability under repeated abuse, often at the expense of street manners. Flywheels affect rotational inertia and throttle response — lightweight aluminum and steel flywheels reduce rotating mass for quicker revving and improved throttle response on performance applications.

Shifters are the driver's interface with the transmission — and a quality shifter improves shift speed, precision, and feel on both automatic and manual applications. Short-throw shifters reduce the distance between gear positions for faster manual shifts. Automatic shifters — floor-mounted ratchet and reverse-pattern units — provide positive gear engagement and a custom interior appearance that factory column and floor shifters can't match.

Driveshafts transmit torque from the transmission output to the differential. Factory driveshafts are engineered for OEM power levels and may not survive the torsional loads of a significantly modified engine. Aluminum and chromoly steel driveshafts are available in custom lengths for engine swap applications, suspension lift and drop builds, and high-power applications where factory shafts are a known failure point. U-joints and slip yokes are wear items that should be inspected and replaced proactively on any performance build.

Differentials and axles are the final link in the drivetrain. A limited-slip or locking differential puts power to both rear wheels simultaneously — critical for consistent traction on high-power street and strip builds. Upgraded axle shafts in chromoly steel handle the torque loads that factory axles can't survive on built engines with sticky tires. Flexplates connect the crankshaft to the torque converter on automatic transmission applications and must be matched to the engine's crankshaft bolt pattern and the converter's pilot diameter.

This collection serves street rods, muscle cars, drag builds, pro-touring platforms, and custom trucks across a wide range of domestic applications. GM, Ford, and Mopar drivetrain families are well represented, with components available for the most popular transmission and axle combinations.

Transmission and drivetrain work ranges from straightforward shifter and clutch replacements to full transmission builds and driveshaft fabrication. Any drivetrain modification should be followed by a thorough inspection of u-joints, mounts, and alignment before returning the vehicle to performance use.
