Copper Spark Plugs

NGK's copper core spark plugs are the baseline of the lineup, providing reliable ignition performance for standard replacement applications across a wide range of domestic and import engines. Copper core construction provides excellent thermal conductivity for consistent heat range performance, with NGK's corrugated ribs and triple gasket seal preventing flashover and ensuring a leak-free installation. Copper plugs are the correct choice for older engines with conventional ignition systems and for applications where plug replacement is performed at standard service intervals.

Platinum & Double Platinum Spark Plugs

NGK platinum spark plugs extend service life beyond copper plugs through a platinum firing tip that resists electrode wear at the higher temperatures generated by modern engine management systems. Double platinum designs place platinum on both the center and ground electrodes, providing consistent gap maintenance over extended service intervals on waste-spark ignition systems where both electrodes experience equal wear. Platinum plugs are the correct OEM-specification replacement for most modern domestic and import vehicles with extended tune-up intervals.

Iridium & Laser Iridium Spark Plugs

NGK's iridium spark plug lineup represents the highest tier of the product range, with iridium firing tips that provide the longest service life and most consistent spark performance of any plug construction. The fine-wire iridium center electrode requires less voltage to fire than a conventional electrode, reducing ignition system load and improving spark reliability at high RPM and under boost. Laser Iridium plugs use a laser-welded iridium tip on both the center and ground electrodes for maximum durability and consistent gap maintenance over 100,000-mile service intervals on supported applications.

For performance and forced induction applications, NGK's iridium plugs provide the spark reliability needed at elevated cylinder pressures where conventional plugs misfire. The reduced firing voltage requirement of the fine-wire iridium electrode is particularly beneficial in turbocharged and supercharged engines where cylinder pressure at ignition timing is significantly higher than a naturally aspirated equivalent.

Racing Spark Plugs

NGK produces a dedicated racing spark plug lineup for competition applications where standard plugs are insufficient for the heat range, electrode configuration, or firing voltage requirements of the engine. Racing plugs are available in a wide range of heat ranges to match the specific thermal load of different engine combinations, fuel types, and boost levels. Correct heat range selection is critical in race applications — a plug that is too cold will foul, while a plug that is too hot risks pre-ignition and engine damage.

Oxygen Sensors

NGK produces OEM-quality oxygen sensors and air/fuel ratio sensors for a wide range of domestic and import vehicles. Wideband and narrowband sensor options cover both pre-cat and post-cat sensor positions, with direct-fit connectors and correct thread pitch for each supported application.
