Mickey Thompson — Performance Tires & Wheels for Drag, Street & Off-Road

Mickey Thompson has been engineering performance tires since 1963, when Mickey Thompson himself set land speed records and pioneered tire technology that changed what was possible on the drag strip and dry lake beds. Today, Mickey Thompson produces the most comprehensive lineup of performance tires in the industry — from purpose-built drag slicks and ET Street radials to Baja Boss off-road tires and street performance rubber — all built around the same obsession with traction, durability, and real-world performance that defined the brand from day one.

Drag Racing Tires

Mickey Thompson's drag tire lineup is the benchmark for strip performance across every class and power level. The ET Drag slick is the most widely used bias-ply drag tire in the industry, available in a comprehensive range of sizes from small-tire street/strip applications through large-diameter Pro Stock and bracket racing configurations. The compound and construction are engineered for maximum hook at launch and consistent performance across repeated passes without the heat buildup that degrades lesser tires over a race day.

The ET Street and ET Street Radial series bridge the gap between dedicated drag slick and street tire, providing significantly more traction than a conventional street tire while remaining DOT-compliant for street use. The ET Street Radial Pro is Mickey Thompson's top street/strip radial, engineered for high-horsepower applications where a bias-ply slick isn't practical but maximum radial traction is required.

Off-Road Tires

Mickey Thompson's Baja Boss and Baja Pro series are purpose-built for serious off-road use — rock crawling, desert running, mud, and everything in between. The Baja Boss M/T features an aggressive tread pattern with wide voids for self-cleaning in mud and loose terrain, with a reinforced sidewall construction that resists punctures and cuts on rocky terrain. The Baja Boss A/T provides a more balanced on-road/off-road profile for trucks and SUVs that split time between trail use and highway driving without sacrificing tread life or ride quality.

The Baja Pro X is Mickey Thompson's competition off-road tire, engineered for the Baja 1000 and similar desert racing applications where high-speed stability, puncture resistance, and consistent performance over hundreds of miles of rough terrain are the design priorities.

Street Performance Tires

Mickey Thompson's Street Comp and Sportsman S/R tires deliver high-performance street grip for sports cars, muscle cars, and performance builds that need more traction than a touring tire provides without the compromises of a dedicated track tire. Ultra-high-performance compounds and asymmetric tread patterns provide strong dry grip and acceptable wet performance for year-round street use on performance vehicles.

Wheels

Mickey Thompson produces a range of performance wheels in steel and aluminum construction for drag racing and street applications. Classic Lock and ET series wheels are engineered for the specific requirements of drag racing — correct backspacing for tire clearance, lightweight construction to reduce rotating mass, and bead seat dimensions matched to Mickey Thompson's drag tire lineup for correct mounting and bead retention under launch loads.

Common Applications

Mickey Thompson tires cover virtually every performance application — from small-tire street/strip builds and bracket race cars through Pro Mod and Top Fuel applications on the drag side, and from weekend trail trucks through professional desert race vehicles on the off-road side. Street performance tires cover domestic muscle cars, sports cars, and import performance vehicles in the most popular sizes for each platform.

Installation Notes

Drag slicks and ET Street tires require correct wheel backspacing and wheel well clearance verification before purchase — tire diameter and width at operating pressure differ from the nominal size, and clearance must be confirmed with the tire mounted and the suspension at full compression. Drag tires require a proper heat cycle before competitive use to fully cure the compound and achieve maximum grip. Off-road tires should be mounted and balanced by a tire shop with experience handling large-diameter, heavy-sidewall off-road tires to ensure correct bead seating.
