KRC Power Steering

KRC Power Steering — High-Performance Steering Pumps & Systems for Racing & Street

KRC Power Steering has been engineering race-grade power steering components since 1969, supplying professional circle track teams, drag racers, and serious street performance builders with pumps, reservoirs, and steering system hardware that outperforms OEM and entry-level aftermarket alternatives in flow consistency, heat resistance, and long-term reliability under sustained high-demand use. When steering feel, pump longevity, and system efficiency matter, KRC is the standard the racing industry builds around.

Performance Power Steering Pumps

KRC's power steering pump lineup covers a wide range of flow rates and pressure outputs to match the specific requirements of different steering systems, vehicle weights, and driving applications. Circle track pumps are engineered for the sustained high-RPM, high-temperature demands of oval racing where the steering system is under continuous load through every lap. Drag racing pumps prioritize consistent flow at the RPM range of a drag pass, with compact packaging for tight engine bay installations.

Street performance pumps deliver improved flow and pressure consistency over OEM units, addressing the vague or inconsistent steering feel common in high-performance street builds running aftermarket rack-and-pinion or recirculating ball steering systems. KRC pumps are available in multiple mounting configurations and pulley options to fit a wide range of engine and accessory drive setups.

Remote Reservoirs

KRC remote reservoirs allow the power steering fluid reservoir to be relocated away from the pump body for improved packaging in tight engine bays and race car chassis where the standard integral reservoir location conflicts with headers, intake systems, or roll cage components. Remote reservoirs are available in aluminum and clear configurations, with the clear option providing visual fluid level monitoring without removing the cap. Reservoir capacity options accommodate different system volumes and heat management requirements.

Steering System Components

KRC produces a comprehensive range of power steering system components — including pressure and return line fittings, coolers, filters, and mounting hardware — to support complete power steering system builds and upgrades. Proper line sizing, cooler capacity, and filter placement are critical for maintaining fluid temperature and cleanliness in high-demand racing applications where fluid degradation directly impacts steering feel and pump longevity.

Common Applications

KRC Power Steering products are used across NASCAR, ARCA, Late Model, Modified, and Street Stock circle track racing, as well as drag racing, road course, and high-performance street applications. Engine compatibility covers GM Small Block and Big Block, GM LS and LT, Ford Small Block and Big Block, and Chrysler/Mopar V8 platforms with appropriate pulley and mounting configurations. Custom bracket and pulley solutions are available for non-standard engine and accessory drive combinations.

Build Quality & Race-Proven Engineering

KRC pumps are manufactured from billet aluminum with precision-machined internal components and seals rated for sustained high-temperature operation. Every pump is flow-tested and pressure-tested before shipment to verify correct output across the operating range. The engineering behind each KRC product reflects decades of feedback from professional racing teams running the hardware at the limit of its capability — not laboratory specifications that don't translate to real-world race conditions.

Installation Notes

KRC pump installations require correct pulley sizing for the desired pump speed relative to engine RPM — over-driving the pump generates excessive heat and pressure, while under-driving reduces flow at low RPM. Pressure and return line sizing must be matched to the pump's flow rate and the steering system's requirements. A complete power steering system flush and bleed is required after installation to remove air from the system and ensure consistent steering feel from the first use.
