Bilstein Monotube Shock Absorbers & Performance Suspension

Bilstein invented the monotube gas pressure shock absorber in 1954, and they've been the benchmark for ride quality and handling performance ever since. Trusted by OEM manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Ford, and GM as original equipment, and by performance builders and racing teams worldwide, Bilstein shocks deliver a level of consistency, durability, and precision that twin-tube designs fundamentally cannot match. Monotube Technology

Bilstein's monotube design separates the oil and gas charge with a floating piston, eliminating the aeration and fade that degrade twin-tube shock performance under repeated or sustained use. The result is consistent damping force from the first compression to the last — whether you're driving a mountain road, running a track day, or towing a trailer across the country. Monotube shocks also run cooler than twin-tube designs, extending service life and maintaining performance in high-heat conditions.

Bilstein's digressive valving technology delivers a progressive damping curve that provides a compliant, controlled ride over small road imperfections while firming up appropriately under larger inputs and body roll — the characteristic Bilstein feel that enthusiasts recognize immediately.

B4, B6, B8 & B12 Series

Bilstein's product line is organized around application and performance level. The B4 series provides OEM-quality replacement damping for vehicles where factory ride character is the priority. The B6 series is Bilstein's most popular performance upgrade — a direct OEM replacement shock with performance valving that improves handling response and body control without sacrificing daily drivability. The B8 series is engineered for lowered applications, with valving optimized for reduced ride height. The B12 series combines Bilstein B8 shocks with matched sport springs for a complete, engineered suspension package.

Truck & SUV Applications

Bilstein's truck and SUV lineup covers full-size domestic platforms with shocks engineered for the specific weight, travel, and use demands of truck applications. Their 5100 series is the go-to upgrade for lifted and leveled trucks, with ride height adjustability built into the front shock body for a clean, no-spacer lift solution. The 6112 and 5160 series extend Bilstein's performance into remote reservoir territory for serious off-road applications.
