American Autowire Complete Wiring Harness Systems

Bad wiring kills builds. American Autowire exists to make sure that never happens to yours. Since 1967, they've been manufacturing complete wiring harness systems for classic muscle cars, hot rods, street rods, and custom builds — engineered from the ground up for reliability, clean installation, and modern electrical demands. If you're rewiring a classic or building from scratch, American Autowire is the standard the industry builds around.

Complete Harness Systems, Not Patchwork

American Autowire harnesses are designed as complete, integrated systems — not a collection of universal wires and hope. Their Classic Update and Highway 15 series provide everything needed to fully rewire a vehicle from firewall to tail lights, with pre-labeled, color-coded wiring, fuse panels, and detailed installation instructions that make the job manageable for a skilled DIYer or a professional shop.

Every harness is built with modern GXL cross-linked polyethylene insulation rated for high heat and abrasion resistance — the same spec used in OEM automotive applications. Terminals are crimped and soldered for a connection that won't loosen, corrode, or fail under vibration.

Engineered for Classic & Custom Applications

American Autowire's vehicle-specific harness kits are engineered for the most popular classic platforms — first and second-gen Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, El Camino, early Mustang, and full-size GM trucks. These kits account for the factory routing, switch locations, and accessory configurations of each specific vehicle, dramatically reducing installation time and eliminating the guesswork of adapting a universal harness.

For custom and one-off builds, their universal harness systems provide a clean, professional foundation with the flexibility to route and configure for any chassis. Whether you're building a traditional hot rod, a restomod, or a full custom, American Autowire gives you a harness that's built to the same standard as the rest of your build.

Modern Electrical Capacity for Modern Accessories

Classic vehicles weren't wired for modern accessories — high-output alternators, electric fans, fuel injection, digital gauges, and aftermarket audio all demand more from the electrical system than a 50-year-old harness can deliver. American Autowire systems are engineered with the amperage capacity and circuit count to handle modern builds without overloading fuses or running add-on circuits.

Their fuse panels use blade-style fuses for easy serviceability, and many systems include provisions for relays, accessory circuits, and EFI integration right out of the box.

Installation

American Autowire harnesses are designed for installation by builders who know their way around a vehicle — not plug-and-play for beginners, but straightforward for anyone with solid electrical fundamentals. Detailed, vehicle-specific instructions and tech support make the process manageable. Most complete rewires can be accomplished over a weekend with the right preparation.
